| The Sombre Light of Isolation is the debut album of Australian Doom outfit The Eternal. Run-of-the-mill drudgery is not what you'll find here, but catchy songs with tons of atmosphere and grit make this an excellent album. The vocals are clean, sorrowful without having to resort to anguished shrieks to transmit emotion, but do occasionally drop a few growls for effect. To heighten the level of variety, many Gothic elements have been incorporated to give this album remarkable depth for a debut. Darren White (ex-Anethema) makes a guest appearance delivering lead vocals on Remembrance Scars. (Import) |
