Frequently Asked Questions

Explain your rating scale.
Harvest Moon Music rates albums on a scale of 1 to 5 stars, as follows:

One notch above complete crap.
It's ok. Nothing here to get excited about. Not worth a purchase.
Average. You've heard it all before. Die-hard fans may enjoy it.
A good album you should consider purchasing. A sure thing for genre fans.
Outstanding. You need to get your hands on this album.
A classic of the genre. Automatically a Top Ten album of the year.

Why do your opinions matter?
My opinions are, of course, only opinions. They are, however, based upon more than 20 years of listening to all types of metal and hard rock music so I feel confident in advising interested readers on what albums are worth spending hard-earned dollars on. My ratings are objective and uninfluenced. That being said, I do admit to preferring certain styles of metal over others. If you're going to make a purchase based soley on album reviews, I urge you to read as many as possible from a variety of sources.

Why isn't [insert band name here] listed on your site?
Harvest Moon Music is an ever-growing work in progress. In addition to unsolicited submissions, I actively scour print and Internet sources for new and up-and-coming bands to include. If you don't see your favorite band here, then send me an email and let me know about them. As for the bigger and already-established bands, Harvest Moon is focused on indie and fresh artists who are working their way up in the industry. Eventually the metal legends will be added, but our first priority is to get the word out about the new forces in metal today.

I sent my disc in to you a long time ago. Where's my review?
Most likely, if the package wasn't returned to you then it's on my desk awaiting review. Without a doubt I've already listened to it once or twice, but Harvest Moon operates on a first-in first-out system. As much as I'd love this to be my full-time job, it isn't (yet) so it may take a couple of months to get the review published. I listen to each disc at least a dozen times before I even begin to write. I try to author a comprehensive and honest review, which takes time. All I ask is for you to be patient. I will send you an email the day your review gets published.
