Formed in 1994 in Lubbock, TX, Speedealer was orignally known as REO Speedelaer. Apparently the AOR act REO Speedwagon took offense and legally pressured the band into changing their name to its present form.
On Second Sight, the only album I've heard from the band, Speedealer benefits from former Metallica bass player Jason Newsted in the production chair. Their sound is an excellent blend of Stoner Metal and retro Speed Metal ala early Metallica and Megadeth.
In December 2002 the guys of Speedealer announced that the time had come to lay the band to rest, but in April of 2003 the band reformed with Casey Orr (Gwar, Rigor Mortis, among others) on bass.
