Formed as Agressor in 1985 during the glory days of thrash when bands such as Overkill, Metal Church, and Exodus reigned supreme, Magus Beast continues to belt out old school thrash with style and conviction. Finding their name to be a very common one in the global metal world, they took the name of the lead-off track on their debut album as the new band moniker. Their debut (and only full-length album to date) was recorded in 1996 but the band continues to play live, opening for such metal greats as King Diamond, Symphony X, and Fates Warning. Since their album was recorded, the band went through a bit of lineup turmoil eventually returning to the original quartet plus second guitarist Andy Zuppardi. Drummer Steve Williams lives in Arizona and flew in for gigs, which made the recording of new material quite difficult, and so was replaced late in 2003 by ex-Zandelle drummer Bob Delmini. Fans of classic thrash and nostalgic metal will find much to like about Magus Beast.
