Volumes have been written about the band and their sometimes turbulent history on scores of websites, so this entry is meant to be just a brief synopsis of a brillaint and genre-defining career. Their early albums, prior to Live After Death are in many opinions their best work. Their career, and listenability, took a nosedive in the mid-1990s when vocalist Bruce Dickinson departed, but a return in 1999 (along with long-time guitarist Adrian Smith) has brought Iron Maiden back to producing solid and influential metal.
