Immortal   Origin: Norway     This page updated 02.01.05   The Norwegian trio Immortal, formed by Abbath and Demonaz in 1990, typified the grim Scandinavian black metal scene throughout their early releases. Lineup changes plagued the band, but beginning with At the Heart of Winter Immortal began to mature as a songwriting force and expand their sound while remaining true to their roots. Sons of Northern Darkness was released in 2002 to highly positive reviews, but the band suddenly announced their breakup in mid-2003.
