Founded in 2001 by Linus Melchiorsen, former vocalist of Isengard and drummer of Powerdise - both Swedish power metal outfits, Demental explores a much different sound than the aforementioned bands. Written entirely by Linus himself, the music on the debut album Mental Ed is very Black Sabbath-like doom straight out of the 80's. The up-tempo songs are present along with the sludgy dirges, making this a sweet trip down memory lane for those of us who are 80's metal afficianados. The band folded in 2004, with Linus concentrating on his new endeavor Maitreya.
