Circle Of Nero combine many varied elements of metal to create an original, heavy sound that is both accessible and brutal. The label Progressive Doom has been tossed around when describing this Virginia band, but I think their sound encompasses much more than that. Influences such as Mudvayne, Korn, Iron Maiden, In Flames, Alice In Chains, and Dream Theater are clearly evident. The aggressive yet melodic riffs and rhythms, Gary McCaffery's powerfully emotional and aggressive vocal style, and the progressive but subdued keyboards add up to a sound that is somewhat unique on this side of the Atlantic, thus making Circle Of Nero a band poised for a move to the next level.
