French melodic thrash outfit Angel of Pain, also known as AOP, was founded in 1998 by drummer Roger K-Jo and bass player Guillaume Benoit (both of whom have recently left the band). Incorporating many influences from the '80s thrash metal scene (bands such as Metallica and Testament immediately come to mind) while adding a degree of vocal and guitar melody that gives their music a more contemporary vibe, Angel of Pain will interest fans who favor a bit of melodiousness with their guitar-driven aggression.
