Hailing from Barcelona, Spain, 7th Moon is a very talented newcomer to the Gothic metal scene. Grounded in Lacuna Coil, Tristania and early The Gathering, their sound encompasses many of the common elements of the genre - haunting yet lush keyboards, sorrowful cello, heavy riffing, contrasting harsh and melodic vocals (in the case of their debut, the deathish vox are kept to a minimum), and slow to mid-paced compositions. Singer Sonia Carles possesses a voice that is quite remarkable. She sings powerfully and passionately, very similar to Amy Lee of Evanescence. Where most bands of the genre oppose the beautiful female vocals with a harsh male voice, Sonia handles both styles admirably. Alter Alma offers little to distinguish 7th Moon from their peers, but the potential to rise above the rest is clearly evident - especially with a voice as intriguing as that of Sonia.
