Heavy Metal Tuesday: March 1, 2011

March gets started in a rather doomy fashion with a handful of releases, but only one stands out as a must-have. Great week to catch up on February releases you may have missed.

The Best of Week 9, 2011:

Blood Ceremony: Living With The Ancients
This '70s-obsessed Canadian outfit resurrects the doom sound pioneered by Black Sabbath and adds a bit of a Jethro Tull vibe on their second album Living With The Ancients. Fronted by the captivating Alia O'Brien, there's nothing copycat about Blood Ceremony. Classic horror imagery blends with crushing doom for an album you won't regret adding to your collection.

And now the rest:
Dukatalon: Saved By Fear [ doom ]
Father Befouled: Morbid Destitution of Covenant [ death ]
Firebird: Double Diamond [ stoner rock ]
Humanity Falls: Ordaining the Apocalypse [ death ]
Images Of Eden: Rebuilding the Ruins [ prog ]
Omnium Gatherum: New World Shadows [ melodic death ]
Rings Of Saturn: Embryonis Anomaly [ death ]
Rwake: Hell Is A Door To The Sun [ doom ]
Scale The Summit: The Collective [ prog ]
